CASC held a very well attended meeting of stakeholders, welfare groups, and other interested parties at DEFRA HQ, Nobel House. The groups represented the bird, small mammal, fish and reptile hobbies.
This was a debate around pet vending, with table groups based around ‘interests’ each table group working separately and then their thoughts summarised and presented for comment.

Part of the ‘function’ was to inform the DEFRA welfare team who were present, to let them make industry contacts and the see where the stakeholders felt that the priorities lie.

Further meetings are planned, certainly one which has appeal to many of those those present is to open up the debate on traffic lights and lists, as means of indicating to the public the suitability of certain animal species as pets.
